Central New Mexico

Most of the restaurants in the region are in Albuquerque, which offers a wide selection of restaurants; see its separate article. A few outliers:

Abuelita's New Mexican Restaurant

Bernalillo has a few interesting restaurants, including Abuelita's New Mexican Restaurant acceptable "New Mexican" cuisine in the middle of town and Prairie Star west of town near the Santa Ana Casino, mildly pretentious but good "American" food.

Belen and Los Lunas have a few good restaurants.

Owl Bar

There are a few adequate restaurants in Socorro and environs; see the separate article. The Owl Bar 77 Highway 380, +1 505 835-9946, south of Socorro in San Antonio, is locally famous for its hamburgers.

Corrales, one of Albuquerque's few suburbs, also has a few interesting restaurants.

Ribs BBQ

If you're going north along State Highway 14, you'll encounter Ribs BBQ 1220 Hwy. 14 in Cedar Crest, +1 505 281-4227, (http://www.ribsbbq.com/), one of the better ribs joints in the state. Also, if you look deep enough, there are great little places like Kokopelli's 12540 Hwy. 14, +1 505 286-2691, (http://www.kokopellisrestaurant.com/), an amazing New Mexican restaurant.

Most of the casinos have dining of a sort, if you go for that kind of thing, however be wary of prices, as some make you pay in chips!

Remember, a local phone book is your friend! If you can't get your hands on one because you're traveling by car and not in a hotel, many New Mexicans are glad to lend yours for a few minutes, especially small shops, as they are usually hidden in the corners and don't get much use.
